6-15-20 Suspect Arrest/Shots Fired - 1400 block East Main Street
On June 14, 2020 a suspect involved in a Shots Fired call in the 1400 block of East Main Street was arrested by Chattanooga Police and booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Attempted Homicide, Reckless Endangerment, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. The suspect is identified as 20-year-old Leontay Burns-Hitchcock.
The following is a summary of the incident and investigation:
- On June 11, 2020, at 11:58 p.m. Chattanooga Police Officers responded to a Shots Fired call in the 1400 block of East Main St.
- It was stated to police that the victim and suspect were involved in a physical altercation when the suspect retrieved a gun and fired multiple shots at the victim.
- The victim was not struck by gunfire and the suspect fled the area.
- Evidence located at the scene was turned over to the Chattanooga Police Department's (CPD) Gun Team who were able to positively identify the suspect as Leontay Burns-Hitchcock.
- Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Burns-Hitchcock and he was arrested by Chattanooga Police on June 14, 2020.
