UPDATE #2 (6-10-19): The driver of Vehicle #2 involved in the crash that occurred at 2100 East Main Street on June 7, 2019 voluntarily came forward to meet with Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Investigators.
On June 10, 2019, the driver of Vehicle #2 was interviewed by CPD Traffic Investigators. Information obtained during that interview is part of the open, ongoing investigation and not available for release at this time. Additionally, the identity of the driver of Vehicle #2 is being withheld and a determination regarding if and what specific charges are filed will be determined.
At the completion of the investigation or upon Investigators' advisement, more information will be provided.

UPDATE (6-9-19): Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Investigators were notified that the 9-year-old passenger in Vehicle #1 succumbed to injuries sustained in the two-vehicle crash that occurred on June 7, 2019 at 2100 East Main Street. The boy was pronounced deceased on June 9, 2019.

On June 7, 2019 at approximately 9:08 p.m., a two vehicle traffic crash occurred at 2100 East Main Street. The CPD Traffic / DUI Unit responded to the scene. The following was determined through interview, observation, and investigation:
- Vehicle #2 (Lexus) was traveling east on E. Main St. with the right of way.
- Vehicle #1 (Mazda) was turning onto E. Main St. from the 15000 block of South Kelley St.
- Vehicle #1 turned in front of Vehicle #2 and was struck by Vehicle #2.
- Driver of Vehicle #2 fled the scene on foot.
- Hamilton County EMS responded and transported the driver and two juvenile passengers in Vehicle #1 to a local hospital.
- Both juvenile passengers were secured in child safety seats.
- The investigation is ongoing and will continue in a logical manner.
