4-29-17 Disorder/Traffic Crash - 100 Market St.
On Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 9:50p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a disorder/ traffic crash at 100 Market St. Below are the preliminary facts of this incident:
- As the victim's vehicle neared the intersection of E 1st St and Market St. they slowed for a large amount of pedestrian traffic and were rear-ended by another vehicle
- The victim exited his vehicle to check on the other involved driver. As he did so the pedestrians who were crossing the street, began to heckle and curse at him
- The group of juvenile pedestrians then approached and assaulted the victim and his passenger next to their vehicle
- After the assault all suspects fled the scene in different directions
- The victims suffered minor injuries and were only able to provide vague suspect descriptions to police
- There were a large group of 200 unsupervised juveniles in the downtown/entertainment area at this time
- Police made several arrests from that group, however these arrests were not related to the assault
