2-24-17 Traffic Crash/Officer Involved - 1400 Dodson Ave.
At 3:45 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a traffic crash at 1400 Dodson Ave. The following are the preliminary facts based on investigation, witness and video evidence:
- The crash involved a silver Ford 350 Van (Vehicle #1) a white Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser (PL1327/Vehicle #2) and a silver Mitsubishi LLS (Vehicle #3)
- Vehicle #2 was running emergency (lights and sirens) to assist another officer
- As Vehicle #2 approached the intersection of Dodson Ave and Wilcox Blvd, he slowed to make sure that the intersection was clear
- Vehicle #1 traveling west on Wilcox Blvd approached the intersection not slowing down, made contact with Vehicle #2 in the intersection pushing Vehicle #2 into Vehicle #3
- Driver in Vehicle #2 was entrapped in Vehicle #2 and had to be extracted by the Chattanooga Fire Department
- Driver in Vehicle #1 was transported to a local Hospital with minor non-life-threatening injuries
- Driver in Vehicle #2 was transported to a local Hospital with serious injuries that are non-life-threatening
- Driver in Vehicle #3 suffered no injuries
Members of the Traffic Division are actively investigating this crash and charges are pending at this time
