1-13-17 Body Found - Riverpark/Amnicola Hwy
Fishermen on the Tennessee River notice a body along the river bank and call Chattanooga Police. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner is working to determine identification.
Chattanooga Police were called to the Riverpark (Amnicola Hwy near the Naval Reserve Center) at 11:01 on Friday, January 13, 2017 concerning human remains which were discovered. The following are the preliminary facts of that investigation:
- Chattanooga Police were informed by a local fisherman that a body had been discovered in the Tennessee River
- Police were advised that the remains were on the Amnicola Hwy bank of the river, near the Riverpark
- Police are unable to determine any identity at this time
- The Hamilton County Medical Examiner will make a determination as to cause of death and identity
- This process will take an unknown length of time and will depend of the status of decomposition
- Members of the Violent Crimes Bureau were on scene during the recovery and are following all actionable leads
Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
